Union Minister Piyush Goyal has informed that the Central Government has extended the date of procurement of wheat till May 31. Giving this information in a tweet, Piyush Goyal said that it will also be decided that no wheat farmer should face any inconvenience. He said that the Modi government is committed to ensure agricultural prosperity.
Let us tell you that Piyush Goyal has also shared a letter in his tweet. Which has been issued by the Secretary, Union Food Ministry. This letter has been sent to the government of wheat producing states like Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, UP, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand. With this decision of the Center, crores of farmers of these states have now got 15 more days to sell wheat.
Let us inform that before this decision, the central government had decided to ban wheat exports with immediate effect under the pressure of inflation. However, it was clarified that exporters who have contracted for export before the notification of ban on exports will be allowed to send wheat abroad.
The export ban notification clearly states that keeping in view the food security or needs of any other country, wheat can be exported there with the permission of the government. It has been said that such export will depend on the request of the Government of the said country.
At the same time, many states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana had extended the deadline for wheat procurement even before the Centre’s decision to purchase wheat. In the Madhya Pradesh government, Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel informed that in the interest of farmer brothers and sisters, the last date for wheat procurement has been extended to 31 May.
He informed that till now 41 lakh 57 thousand metric tonnes of wheat has been procured in the state on support price, the government will buy every grain of farmer brothers. He expressed his gratitude to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on behalf of all the farmer brothers.
