On Friday (10 June 2022), after Friday prayers in many states of the country, the Muslim community took to the streets demanding the arrest of Nupur Sharma. After the Friday prayers, there were simultaneous demonstrations in India from Kashmir to Hyderabad and from Delhi to Bengal. In many places, the miscreants created a ruckus and also threw stones at the police. During a TV debate on Aaj Tak on this ruckus across the country, Professor Sangeet Ragi of Delhi University said that all this is sponsored.
During the debate, the anchor said that Muslims in the country are not considering themselves safe. Maulana Madani says that Muslims are not safe in their own streets. In response to which Sangeet Ragi said that it is necessary to see here whether this violence is spontaneous or sponsored. “Spontaneous is when violence occurs immediately after the incident, but if it is done with time it is sponsored,” he said. Professor Ragi said that if such demonstrations and violence are being done 10-15 days after the incident, then believe it is sponsored.
Sangeet Ragi further said, “This violence is sponsored because there is a section within the Muslims, I will not drag all the Muslims into it, but there is a section that interprets anarchic Islam.” He said that a display of strength is being done by Muslim leaders that we can get our word done.
Why not arrest Nupur Sharma: Anchor questions that Muslim community says that JNU professor was arrested for speaking against Shivling, but only FIR was lodged against those who spoke against Prophet Mohammad, why they were not arrested ? Responding to this question, Sangeet Ragi said, “If MF Hussain had made nude pictures of Maa Durga and Mata Saraswati, then people did not say against him that he will be punished.”
The demonstrations on Friday over the controversial statement of Nupur Sharma were also seen on Saturday the next day. A clash broke out between the police and the protesters once again on Saturday morning in Panchala Bazar of Howrah, West Bengal. The miscreants pelted stones at the police after which the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the miscreants.
