Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Monday declared the results of Civil Services Examination-2021. Shruti Sharma stood first while Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla secured the second and third positions respectively. The commission said that 685 candidates have passed the exam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the candidates who succeeded in the Civil Services Examination-2021 and said that he also knew that those who could not clear it were also meritorious youth who would leave their mark in some field or the other.
The Commission said that among the successful candidates, 244 were from the general category, 73 from the economically weaker sections, 203 from the other backward classes, 105 from the scheduled castes and 60 from the scheduled tribes. Civil services examinations are organized every year. This exam is conducted in phases, under which officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) are selected.
UPSC’s written exam was conducted in January, 2022 and interviews were conducted in April-May. No decision has been taken yet on the candidature of 80 candidates while the result of one candidate has been withheld. Aishwarya Verma has secured fourth position while Utkarsh Dwivedi has secured fifth position in the examination.
Prime Minister Modi tweeted that congratulations to all the candidates who got success in the Civil Services Examination-2021. My best wishes to these youths who are going to start their administrative career at such an important time in India’s development journey as we celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. He said that I completely understand the disappointment of the candidates who could not succeed in the Civil Services Examination but I also know that those who could not succeed in it, they are also meritorious youth who will leave their mark in some field and Will make India proud. My best wishes to them.
