PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath have often been seen telling people the benefits of having a double engine government in election rallies. But if we see the reality of UP, then it does not seem that the government of double engine is more effective. Had it been there, Uttar Pradesh would have appeared on top in every respect.
According to research by The Print, despite being a double engine government for the last five years, UP is laggy on every front. Talking about GDP, where the country’s figure is 5.8 percent, UP is at 4.9. But even in the matter of capita income, Yogi’s government has been laggy. If this figure is 4.7 percent in the country, then UP is satisfied with only 3. Talking about the development of industries, here also there is a situation of three parts of Dhak.
During the tenure of Yogi government, which made big announcements for investment, the rate of development of industries is only 1.8 percent. While the national average is 3.3. The province is also far behind in terms of agriculture. The growth rate in this sector is only 3.1 per cent while the country is running at 4.5 per cent. That is, overall the figures do not show a good look.
After the Corona era, the health sector has emerged as the most important. But even in this case, UP does not stand anywhere. According to NITI Aayog, the 5 worst performing states in the health index are Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Of these, 4 out of 5 are BJP ruled states. Been doing double engine here for a long time. Where there are no such double engine governments, they are doing better.
The 5 best performing states in the health index are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. From a political point of view, none of this is a BJP ruled state. Statistics are showing that if the UP government does not alert in time, then the whole country will have to bear the brunt of it, because of course the area of Rajasthan is more, but the largest population in the country lives in UP. If such a large population is left behind on the scale of development, then the widening gap between North and South can lead to regional imbalance and discontent.
However, even after this, it was seen that the Yogi government was engaged in laying the foundation stones of the projects before the elections. During the elections, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister kept announcing public welfare schemes one after the other. Experts say that instead of looting accolades, the government should work with seriousness. When Corona came, the helplessness of the health sector was clearly visible. In other respects also the situation is not good.
