The Bharatiya Kisan Union, which was the main organization during the farmers’ movement, has broken 11 times in 35 years, but this time it is a big division. Despite claiming to be apolitical, it was costly for the Tikait brothers to openly do politics against the BJP in the assembly elections. His close associates left him and formed a new farmer organization Bharatiya Kisan Union Apolitical. In this, Chaudhary of Khap, the second largest alliance of the district, has been made the chairman and national patron. In fact, the foundation of the division of BKU was laid only when in November 2021, BJP MLA Umesh Malik was attacked at BKU’s headquarters in Sisauli.
Tikait came to the rescue of those who attacked Umesh Malik
Choudhary Naresh Tikait was adamant when the accused named in the attack were not allowed to be arrested. This is where the mutual discord had started. After the attack on BJP MLA Umesh Malik in Sisauli, when Chaudhary Naresh Tikait gave open statement in favor of the nominated accused, Chaudhary Rajendra Singh of Gathwala Khap stood openly in front of him. The solidarity of the peasants was divided in the politics of the Khaps. After this, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of all three agricultural laws, then BKU leader Rakesh Tikait could not follow his point that the bill wapsi to ghar wapsi.
The organization was divided on the death anniversary of Mahendra Tikait
Bhakiyu suffered the blow of partition on the very day when it was the death anniversary of founder Mahendra Singh Tikait. In fact, Chaudhary Mahendra Singh Tikait, adopting his apolitical nature, had also got such demands from the government for the farmers, which the farmers could not even imagine. While being apolitical, he forced the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of the country to come to Sisauli to announce in favor of the farmers. During his time, Prime Minister Chandrashekhar, Prime Minister Deve Gowda, Chief Minister Vir Bahadur Singh, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Rajnath Singh etc. addressed from the stage, but they never got the tag of being political. After his departure, his sons Naresh Tikait and Rakesh Tikait could not retain this form.
Tikait brothers surrounded by open front against BJP
Leaders who made the new farmer organization BKU apolitical say that long before the elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the withdrawal of all three agricultural laws. But do not know what are the reasons that despite being apolitical, the National President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Chaudhary Naresh Tikait and National Spokesperson Rakesh Tikait openly became the voice of the anti-BJP camp. In Sisauli, the candidates of opposition parties were called and given symbols of anti-BJP parties. In the district panchayat elections, the name of the district panchayat president of the anti-BJP camp was decided. This gave a blow to the apolitical image of Bhakiyu.
Malik accuses Tikait brothers of making money
Baba Rajendra Singh Malik, a resident of Lisadh village of Shamli, who was appointed as the patron-chairman in the new Bhakuyu, accused the Tikait family of making money in the name of Bhakiyu along with politics. Also said that we are not the people who run away by picking up the dharna in the middle. There will be an honest struggle on the issues of the farmers and the dharna will be ended only after getting the matter agreed. Chaudhary Baba Rajendra Singh Malik of Gathwala Khap said that the performance of Rakesh and Naresh Tikait can be estimated by assessing the economic situation at the time of establishment of BKU and today.
