Tax collection increased 3 times
PM Modi said in the interview, ‘The number of people filing ITR has more than doubled in the last 10 years. Earlier less than 4 crore people used to file ITR. Now more than 8 crore people file ITR. Tax collection has also increased three times. Earlier the net tax collection was Rs 11 lakh crore. Today the net tax collection has reached Rs 34 lakh crore. Why is this happening? Because he has faith. The one who is giving money is giving it in the right place. Will go towards development work. Theft will not lead to looting. Because of faith he is coming forward to give.
reduce the burden on taxpayers
The PM further said, ‘Tax is exempted on income up to Rs 7 lakh. Earlier it was stuck at Rs 2-2.5 lakh. Still my taxes are increasing. So I thank every taxpayer. Because the money he is giving is being spent in the development of the country. The vision I have for the country is being fulfilled with this money. Taxpayers have a big contribution in fulfilling my dreams. Everything is going to happen through that. I believe that the number of taxpayers should increase and the burden on taxpayers should be reduced. We are moving forward with this basic philosophy.
What can the taxpayer do for a developed India?
The PM said in the interview, ‘I will also make a request to the taxpayers that you should motivate at least 3 people who do not pay tax to pay tax. People have to be explained that I am building a house for the poor. The tax money will be useful to some poor person or the other. His virtue will reach everyone. Should any taxpayer think that I had paid tax due to which a hungry child is eating food? I am investing taxpayer’s money in public welfare, so that the donor can be satisfied that someone is eating food with my money. The taxpayer is also entitled to the virtue of satisfaction from the plate of a poor person.
