In September last year, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had confirmed the death sentence of the convict and against this the convict had taken refuge in the Supreme Court.
A bench of Justice UU Lalit, Justice SR Bhat and Justice PS Narasimha said that in view of the need for further consideration of the matter, the death sentence will remain suspended for the time being.
The court said that the psychological analysis report of the convict should be placed before him and a report on the nature of the work of the petitioner in the jail in which he was kept. The bench said that the order of stay on the hanging should be sent to the concerned jail authorities immediately. The next hearing in the matter will now take place on March 22.
