After the return of the Yogi government to power in Uttar Pradesh, the crackdown on corrupt officials has intensified. The District Magistrate (DM) of Sonbhadra, TK Shibu, has been accused of complaints of irregularities in mining and construction works. They have been suspended. Along with this, a departmental inquiry has also been set up on him. The responsibility of this has been entrusted to the Commissioner of Varanasi.
In a statement issued by the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the suspension of TK Shibu, it was said that the DM of Sonbhadra was complaining against TK Shibu for corruption in mining and other construction works in Jan Pratinidhi district. Apart from this, social workers had complained against them. He had also shown negligence during the 2022 assembly elections. Due to non-seal of postal ballot paper, a situation of cancellation of polling had arisen in the district.
It was further said on behalf of the government that the commissioner of Vindhyachal Mandal had investigated the matter. DM TK Shibu was found guilty in this. Because of this they are suspended. Along with this, the Commissioner of Varanasi Division has been appointed as the Investigating Officer to investigate the allegations against him. He has been attached to the Revenue Council till the completion of the investigation.
