The hijab controversy in Karnataka had just stopped when a Karnataka MLA made a statement that raised the temperature of state politics. Karnataka BJP MLA and Political Secretary to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai demanded the closure of all madrasas in Karnataka. BJP MLA MP Renukacharya also accused the Congress of teaching the Hijab controversy and said that the Hijab controversy spread only because of the Congress leaders.
BJP MLA MP Renukacharya Said that, “I request the CM and the Education Minister to ban madrasas. Don’t we have other schools where Hindu and Christian students study? You teach anti-national lessons here (in madrasas). We should teach the same syllabus as what we teach in other schools.”
While talking about the Hijab controversy BJP MLA Said that, “Some anti-national organizations have called for Karnataka Bandh. Can the government tolerate this? Is this Pakistan, Bangladesh or Islamic country? won’t tolerate it. Congress leaders defended it on the floor of the House. I want to ask Congress who made the issue of hijab, you or us? Is vote bank more important to you? I ask Congress, why do we need madrassas? What do madrasas preach? They provoke innocent children. Tomorrow they will go against our country and will never say Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Let us tell you that BJP MLA Renukacharya constantly remains in the headlines for his controversial statements. In January, he had said that he would stop the benefits given to Muslims in his area. They had said that they did not vote for us in 2018 and we will no longer give them the benefits they deserve in our area. During the hijab controversy, BJP MLA Renukacharya also gave a controversial statement on Priyanka Gandhi’s bikini comment.
