Akshay Pratap Singh, who is a close aide of MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and contesting MLC election from Kunda seat of Pratapgarh, was sentenced to seven years by the court on Wednesday for taking arms license at a fake address. Akshay Pratap Singh was convicted on March 15 for taking arms license at a fake address. On Tuesday, the police took the former MLC in custody and sent him to jail.

Akshay Pratap was contesting from Raja Bhaiya’s party Jansatta Dal (Democratic) and had also filed his nomination.

In the year 1997, a case was registered against Akshay Pratap Singh for getting a license of arms at a fake address. It was alleged that Gopalji had obtained the license of arms at the fake address of Pratapgarh. While Akshay Pratap Singh is a resident of Jamo in Amethi. In this case, the court has sentenced Akshay Pratap Singh to seven years imprisonment.
On Tuesday, the court had fixed a date for the announcement of the sentence and ordered Akshay Pratap to be present in the court. At the same time, as soon as the proceedings began, his lawyer requested the court to dispose of the application citing the High Court ruling, but the court had sent Akshay Pratap Singh to judicial custody, refusing to grant relief in the matter.
