Delhi High Court has framed charges against Tahir Hussain, accused of Delhi riots. While framing the charge on former Aam Aadmi Party councilor Tahir Hussain, the High Court said that Tahir Hussain was not only a conspirator but also an active rioter. The court framed charges against the accused for various offenses including criminal conspiracy, rioting, armed with deadly weapon, dacoity, mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy the house.
While framing the charges, the Delhi High Court said, “The accused Tahir Hussain was not only a conspirator but also an active rioter. He was not a mute spectator but was taking an active part in the riots and was instigating other members to teach a lesson to the people of other communities by organizing unlawful gatherings.”
According to PTI, in the order, the High Court said, “Prima facie it appears that the incident related to the riots was carried out with a well-planned conspiracy and elaborate arrangements. After instigating Tahir, the rioters became even more violent on his provocation and started throwing stones. Some rioters were throwing stones, petrol bombs etc. from the roof of Tahir’s house. Therefore, apart from conspiracy, charges of rioting and arson have been framed against him.
A complaint was lodged against Tahir Hussain at Khajuri Khas police station. A businessman named Karan had accused Tahir, “On 25 February 2020, a group led by Tahir Hussain was illegally formed under conspiracy and he set fire to my company’s warehouse after vandalizing it. This godown was located in Khajuri Khas area of Karawal Nagar Road, Chand Bagh. Tahir and Anas, Firoz, Javed, Gulfam, Shoaib Alam had conspired.”
