After the assembly elections held in five states, the exit polls have come out ahead of the declaration of the results. According to these exit polls, there is a close contest between BJP and Congress in Goa. Both the parties seem to be few seats away from getting majority. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram hinted at an alliance with other parties to keep the BJP out of power in Goa.
Talking to NDTV, P. Chidambaram said, “I am not directly, but the Goa leaders of our party are in touch with leaders of other parties.” Actually, Chidambaram was asked whether he is in touch with TMC and Aam Aadmi Party? The senior Congress leader said the party was “doubly guarding” its house and would not allow it to be “theft” this time.
Earlier, Chidambaram had refused to accompany Arvind Kejriwal, terming AAP and Mamata Banerjee’s TMC as “party of defectors”. Ahead of the declaration of the election results, P. Chidambaram is in Goa. The Congress has swung into action after exit polls have predicted a hung assembly in Goa and a close fight with the BJP.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that the Congress is taking its leaders to the besieged MLAs and taking its candidates to a resort in North Goa. Let us inform that the voting for 40 assembly seats in Goa was held on 14 February, the results of the elections will be declared on 10 March.
Exit polls have projected three seats for Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. In such a situation, TMC can play the role of kingmaker. In the exit polls, the Aam Aadmi Party does not see anything coming in its hands, but apparently the Congress does not want to leave any stone unturned considering the results of the last time.
