In the T20 World Cup held about five months ago, when India lost its match to Pakistan, there was a ruckus in the whole country. Cricket fans could not tolerate defeat at the hands of Pakistan. The government was also with the people. In such a situation, when three Kashmiri students said something in support of the Pak case, they were caught. But what happened after that was beyond comprehension. Any lawyer shunned his plea. In such a situation, Madhavan Dutt Chaturvedi, who practiced in the court of Mathura, came forward.
At present, Allahabad High Court Justice Ajay Bhanot has granted bail to all the three students. But the court expressed concern over the circumstances in which the Bar Association of Agra refused to plead all three. Justice said that he is directly hearing the bail plea, as no lawyer is coming forward to represent the students. He said that although it is also a fact that lawyers take oath to help the law and the victims, but even after that such a scene was seen.
Madhavan says that he tries his best to live up to the oath he took. No matter how many threats they get. They say that the end of life has to happen when it happens. They don’t care about him. It was in this spirit that he took the case of all the three Kashmiri students doing engineering. Madhavan, who practices in a small chamber outside the Mathura court, says secularism is not an emotional or religious aspect to him. Humanity is above all for them. For this they are ready to do anything.
He says that while taking the case, he does not see whether the person in front is in a position to pay the money or not. He takes care of her need first. He got this passion from his father Radhe Shyam Choubey. He was a soldier of the freedom struggle. He did a lot of work in setting up the CPI in Mathura in the 50-60s. People related to his father had a great influence on him. From his student life, he himself joined the Left ideology and took part in many picketing demonstrations.
When he took the case of Kashmiri students, he was even threatened on social media. Attempts were made to label him as anti-national but it did not affect him. In the case of Sant Yuvraj of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, when he opposed the bail, he was also attacked but it did not make any difference to him. Madhavan says that revolutionaries inspire him to face such threats. Even before him, many people have done more for the society by suffering such things. He is not afraid of death. As long as he is alive, the work will go on. He is an adept lawyer who is always ready to help people and in every situation.
