Mukesh Ambani’s brother and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) chairman Anil Ambani on Friday (March 25, 2022) resigned as the director of Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure. “Non-executive director Anil D Ambani has stepped down as a director of the company following the interim order of SEBI,” Reliance Power said in a notice to the stock exchange.
Reliance Infrastructure also told stock exchanges that Anil Ambani has resigned from the company’s board of directors “in compliance with SEBI’s interim order”. The Board of Directors of R-Power and R-Infra on Friday appointed Rahul Sarin as additional director as an independent director for a tenure of five years, both the ADAG group companies said. However, this appointment is currently subject to the approval of the members in the general meeting.
This step has been taken by Anil at a time when the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has banned him from joining any listed company in the stock exchanges. In February, SEBI had barred Reliance Home Finance Ltd, industrialist Anil Ambani and three other persons from the securities market for allegedly laundering money.
The younger Ambani was once more wealthy than his “fat brother” Mukesh. When the property of Dhirubhai Ambani was divided, then his assets were worth four lakh crores. However, he also had to see a period when he had to publicly say in a court that he had to sell jewelry to run the household.
After separating from Mukesh, Anil’s share came in the financial services, telecom and energy business. By the way, even after getting the new age business, he could not show much miracle and due to wrong decisions and policies, he went into the quagmire of debt.
Security of Reliance Jio World Center responsible for 230 commandos of CISF: Meanwhile, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday took over security by deploying 230 commandos at Reliance Group’s Jio World Center in Mumbai. The paramilitary force, in a statement issued in Delhi, said it would provide security to the center “on a Quick Response Team (QRT) method”. There the commandos will keep surveillance from suitable places using advanced weapons and vehicles. Regular entry and exit will be conducted by private security guards assigned by the client (geo centre) under the supervision of CISF.
This is the third center of RIL to be brought under the security cover of CISF. Reliance IT Park in Navi Mumbai and Reliance Refinery in Gujarat’s Jamnagar have already got the security cover of the central paramilitary force. RIL promoter Mukesh Ambani and his wife and Reliance Foundation founder-chairman Nita Ambani are also protected by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
