When it comes to the politics of Uttar Pradesh, a famous name that emerges in it is that of Omprakash Rajbhar. Omprakash Rajbhar’s life has been spent in many struggles. Omprakash Rajbhar himself had told in an interview given to a channel that his family had to face a lot of financial problems and he himself used to drive tempo to run the house. OP Rajbhar is famous for his rebellion.
Used to study in the morning and drive tempo in the evening: Omprakash Rajbhar told that when his family was facing financial difficulties, at that time he used to go for studies in the morning and after returning home in the evening, he used to drive himself and his family by driving tempo. Then later Omprakash Rajbhar started the business of selling commercial vegetables and he started selling vegetables along with his brothers.
Rajbhar used to cultivate vegetables and at night used to pluck vegetables from the field and go to the market by bicycle to sell them. Rajbhar also used to buy food grains from the farmers of the village and sell it in the mandi. Gradually Rajbhar moved forward and then came a time when he was inclined towards politics.
Kanshi Ram was impressed by: Rajbhar’s friend’s father had made Rajbhar meet Kanshi Ram and Rajbhar was very impressed with Kashiram. After that he worked for BS-4. After BS-4, Rajbhar was also active in BSP and in 1995 he got his wife to contest the election of district panchayat member but she lost the election. In 1996 Mayawati fielded Rajbhar as the candidate from Kolasala seat of Banaras but Rajbhar lost the election. Gradually, his relationship with Mayawati started deteriorating. In 2002, he left BSP and joined his party, but due to non-availability of ticket, he also left his party.
First time MLA in 2017: In 2012, Rajbhar’s party was in the fray in alliance with Mukhtar Ansari’s Quami Ekta Dal, but Om Prakash Rajbhar himself lost the election from Zahoorabad seat. SP’s Syeda Fatima defeated Rajbhar. In 2016, Rajbhar met Amit Shah and his party had an alliance with the BJP. Then Rajbhar was successful in bringing 3 other MLAs of his party along with him to the assembly in 2017.
Then in 2018, the relationship between Rajbhar and CM Yogi started deteriorating and Rajbhar started making statements against the state government. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rajbhar also shared the electoral stage with Akhilesh Yadav and on 20 May 2019, CM Yogi dismissed Rajbhar from the cabinet. In October 2021, Rajbhar met SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his party formed an alliance with the SP. Rajbhar fought the 2022 assembly election with the SP and won 6 MLAs of SubhaSP and reached the assembly.
