Gurmeet Singh Khuddia beats Parkash Singh Badal: In Lambi assembly constituency, Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate Gurmeet Singh defeated veteran Punjab leader Parkash Singh Badal in his stronghold. Gurmeet Singh is the son of former MP Late Jagdev Singh. Parkash Singh Badal had been winning from the Lambi assembly constituency continuously from 1997 to 2017. Gurmeet Singh defeated Parkash Singh Badal by 11,396 votes. Gurmeet Singh did most of his politics with Congress. But in July last year, Gurmeet Singh left the Congress and joined the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing him of neglecting the Lambi assembly constituency.
Jeevan Jyot Kaur defeated stalwarts like Sidhu and Majithia Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate from Amritsar East, Jeevan Jyot Kaur defeated stalwarts like Bikram Singh Majithia and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Jeevan Jyot Kaur got 39,679 votes, while Sidhu got 32,929 votes. Jeevan Jyot Kaur defeated Sidhu by 6750 votes. Jeevan Jyot Kaur is a social worker and works for Shree Hemkund Education Society. She has also distributed sanitary pads in slums and for this reason Jeevan Jyot Kaur is also known as ‘Pad-Woman of Punjab’. Jeevan Jyot Kaur had joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2015 and since then continued to work for the party.
Jagdeep Kamboj defeated Sukhbir Singh Badal: Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate Jagdeep Kamboj from Jalalabad defeated Shiromani Akali Dal’s chief ministerial candidate Sukhbir Singh Badal by more than 30 thousand votes. Jagdish Kamboj’s father Surendra Kamboj remained in Congress and was active in politics for 20 years. Jagdeep Kamboj also joined Congress 10 years ago and also held several posts of Congress in Jalalabad.
In the 2019 elections, when Sukhbir Singh Badal left this seat and the by-election was announced, Jagdeep Kamboj wanted to contest from here on a Congress ticket, but Congress did not give the ticket. After that he left Congress and contested as an independent and lost the election. After that he joined the Aam Aadmi Party and then the party gave him ticket in the 2022 assembly elections and he defeated Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Ajit Pal Singh defeated Capt Amarinder Singh Aam Aadmi Party MLA Ajit Pal Singh defeated former Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh from Patiala by more than 15 thousand votes. Ajit Pal Singh’s family and he himself have previously been in Shiromani Akali Dal. Ajit Pal Singh has also become the mayor in 2011 on the ticket of Shiromani Akali Dal.
