The Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan seems to be walking on the path of ‘Soft Hindutva’. Ashok Gehlot government will get Ramayana, Sundarkand and Hanuman Chalisa recited in temples on the occasion of Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti. The BJP, the main opposition party of the state, has been accusing the Ashok Gehlot government of appeasement. Meanwhile, the Gehlot government’s move is being seen as an attempt to follow the path of ‘soft Hindutva’.
According to the order of the Devasthan Department, the government will organize Ramayana lessons on Ramnavami and Sundarkand lessons on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. In connection with this event, the Government Secretary of the Department has issued an order. Along with this, the Commissioner of Devasthan Department, Karan Singh has called for a list of two temples each with direct charge of the districts from the Assistant Commissioners where Ramayana and Sunderkand lessons will be organized.
According to the information, public representatives will also be invited to participate in this event. The Devasthan Department of the Gehlot government has appointed 8 priests to conduct recitations in the identified temples. These priests will do three hours of Ramayana recitation along with serving their respective temples. As per the order, these priests will stay in the temple at night.
Ramayana-Sundarkand recitation organized on 10th and 16th April
According to the information, the recitation of Ramayana will be organized in these temples on April 10, while on April 16, on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Sunderkand recitation will be organized. Earlier, Bhagwat Katha was organized in temples on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Devasthan Minister Shakuntala Rawat along with other officials had attended one such event in Jaipur.
The BJP has been accusing the Gehlot government of Rajasthan of appeasement. Recently, BJP state president Satish Poonia alleged that the Ashok Gehlot government is doing politics of appeasement in the name of caste and religion.
