The date of 23 March is very special for the country, because this day is Martyr’s Day. On this day, three brave sons of Mother India were hanged for the freedom of the country. But when the date of hanging was fixed on March 24, why were they hanged 11 hours earlier? Due to this, the British government had started preparations for the hanging of the three revolutionaries, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, two days in advance.
By the night of 22 March, the British government had completed all the preparations. The motive behind this was such that there should be no uproar on the day of hanging of the three revolutionaries. The British government was frightened by the voices and demonstrations of protest rising across the country. However, these nights of execution were sleepless nights for the entire country. While on the other hand Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were not worried about anything.
Let us tell you that in the year 1928, an English police officer John Saunders was shot and killed. In this case, the three revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were sentenced to death. During that period, Lord Irwin had constituted a special tribunal for the trial of this murder. After which all three were hanged on 23 March 1931 in the Central Jail of Lahore.
Bhagat Singh was sentenced to death for throwing a bomb in the Central Assembly but his date was fixed for 24 March. The death sentence of these brave sons had created a huge protest all over the country. This day was full of fear for the British rule. The British government was apprehensive that at the time of punishment at the time of punishment, there should be no rebellion of any kind, so it was hanged on 23 March.
In the last days of his execution, Bhagat Singh was reading the biography of Lenin. Which was brought a day earlier by his lawyer. Before the execution, all the prisoners were instructed by the jail authorities to go to their respective cells. When the prisoners asked the reason for this, it was said that this order had come from above. After this, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged secretly on 23 March 1931 at 7.33 pm.
