Apart from declaring ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free by the governments of BJP-ruled states, the party is also organizing a special screening of the film. A special show was organized for BJP MPs and ministers in Delhi on Wednesday evening, which included ministers Kiren Rijiju and Ashwini Kumar Choubey. Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Prabhal Pratap, son of Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, invited party leaders for the show. On the other hand, after watching the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ in Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “Half truth has been shown in the film. It is not appropriate to show a part in the film. If they want to do politics through this and move towards 2024, then it is going to take the country in the very wrong direction.”
After the release of The Kashmir Files film, DCPs in every district have been asked to make elaborate security arrangements in areas with “mixed population” to avoid any untoward incident in the capital Delhi. In a letter issued on March 14 to the DCPs of all districts, PCR and traffic, the DCP (Special Branch) said, “The film is based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits, and is reportedly based on true events. It depicts the barbarism of the time.”
The letter asks all district DCPs to take precautionary measures keeping in mind the sensitivity of the matter: “Adequate policing by local police including women staff, PCR and traffic has been suggested, especially in areas with mixed population. I have been instructed to handle the situation tactfully.” The letter said: “It is being claimed that a one-sided approach to the incident could possibly incite violence between communities.”
The official further said in the letter, “In Bhatkal, Karnataka, people are protesting against the limited screening of The Kashmir Files in local cinemas demanding it to be shown in full and everywhere. In some theatres, audiences were heard shouting slogans against terrorists and enemies of India.
The letter also said, “The communal situation in Delhi is still critical since the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots. Due to the recent hijab controversy and hate speech of Haridwar Dharma Sansad against Muslim community, it cannot be denied that even a small incident can create communal tension between the two communities and disturb the law and order situation. can affect.” Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the early 1990s.
Meanwhile, in Noida, residents of Mahagun Modern Society in Sector 78 plan to book shows on Saturday and Sunday to “show solidarity”. A member of the Apartment Owners Association in Sector 78 said, “We have decided to arrange a special screening of the film over the weekend for all the families to show solidarity with the Hindu brothers and sisters of Kashmir.”
