Industrial farming, livelihood promotion is being done by Hi-Tech Horticulture by modern method.
Lucknow, Aug 10 (IANS) | The women of Uttar Pradesh are engaged in changing their lives by cultivating bananas and vegetables. This initiative has been started by the women of Self Help Groups under the State Rural Livelihood Mission. In Lucknow’s BKT tehsil, 15 women like Sunita Devi, Preeti, Savitri have started cultivating bananas and vegetables. After getting the successful results, efforts are being made to increase the income of women by promoting this farming in other 8 development blocks of Lucknow as well. Along with encouraging women to take up banana and vegetable cultivation, training is being given to them through UPSRLM. In the three-day training, women are being trained in industrial farming, livelihood promotion, agro-based capacity development, food processing, value addition and animal husbandry by hi-tech horticulture through modern methods. Not only this, the farmer women of the groups are also being made aware and trained to do sustainable farming.
Under the initiative of Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM), women are cultivating bananas and vegetables with a group of 15 thousand rupees. Along with this, women have also started animal husbandry here. BKT alone has 131 female members in 12 groups. From their side 10 thousand rupees groups to small shops of groceries and grocery have also been started. Due to these efforts being made by the mission, there has been a lot of improvement in the economic level. Sunita Devi of Bahargaon of BKT told that the members of the group are also doing the work of electricity bill collection. Sunita alone has done the work of updating a total of 1600 electricity bills.
