The controversy over many issues in the country is not taking its name to end. Sometimes the hijab controversy and sometimes the uproar over the film “The Kashmir Files” based on atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits continues. Instead of finding a universal solution to the issue, political parties are trying to take advantage of it. The film, which released on March 11, has sparked debate among political parties. Several BJP-ruled states, including Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, have exempted the film from entertainment tax.
On Wednesday, some women were allegedly asked to remove saffron stalls before entering a cinema hall in Nashik in Maharashtra to watch “The Kashmir Files”. On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party targeted the ruling Shiv Sena over this. BJP leaders asked CM Uddhav Thackeray whether this is your Hindutva. He also took a dig at Shiv Sena party of Maharashtra regarding this.
Some women in the cinema hall were reportedly asked to remove their saffron stole before going inside the theater to watch the Vivek Agnihotri-directed film. “The female audience wearing saffron shawls in Nashik for The Kashmir Files film was asked to keep them outside the cinema hall,” the state BJP unit said in a Twitter post.
Tagging the post on the Twitter handle of Thackeray’s office, the BJP asked, “Is this your form of Hindutva, Uddhavji?” The BJP in its tweet used words like “green blood” to question Shiv Sena’s commitment to Hindutva and claimed that the Thackeray-led party has now become a “Janaab Sena”.
“The Kashmir Files” depicts true incidents of atrocities, killings of Kashmiri Pandits and others by Pakistan-backed terrorists, brutalizing women and children, as well as setting their homes and business establishments on fire. It also depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir after the systematic killings of members of the community.
