Amroha, July 30 (IANS)| In a shocking incident, a man killed his one year old son after he failed in his efforts to sell his boy for Rs 3 lakh. The accused father Mohammad Naushad, a laborer, was arrested on Thursday night after the victim’s grandfather lodged a complaint with the Dhanora police station in Amroha.

Station House Officer (SHO) Jaiveer Singh said the couple got married four years back. He had two children. Naushad is a laborer and is addicted to alcohol. He is also fond of gambling. He wanted to sell his son for money. When he could not find a buyer, he strangled the child to death.

The girl’s mother, Nazrana, told the police that her husband was adamant on selling the child. She said that she had strongly opposed his decision and the couple used to fight over the issue. On Wednesday evening, Naushad sent Nazrana to borrow a phone charger from a neighbor and when she returned, she saw Naushad strangling the child, who had fainted by then.
