BSP President Mayawati is definitely hurt by the performance in the assembly elections but is in no mood to accept defeat. He has declared former MLA Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali as the candidate for the by-election to be held in Azamgarh parliamentary constituency. The seat fell vacant due to the resignation of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav from the post of MP.
Jamali has contested from Azamgarh in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections against SP Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav from BSP. In the 2022 assembly elections, Jamali contested from Mubarakpur under the flag of AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi. But he had to face his face at the hands of SP. After that Jamali turned back to BSP.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the post of MP on March 22 after he was elected from the Karhal assembly constituency of Mainpuri in the assembly elections. Yadav was representing the Azamgarh parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha. The by-election process will start very soon. Mayawati has fielded the first candidate for this. Seeing her attitude, it is clear that she is not going to give up.
Why did you trust Jamali?
In 2014, Milayam Singh Yadav won Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat by getting 3 lakh 40 thousand votes. BJP’s Ramakant Yadav got 2 lakh 77 thousand votes while BSP candidate Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali got 2 lakh 66 thousand votes. Jamali had given more than expected results during that time, because on one hand he was battling with a strong leader like Mulayam Singh and on the other hand he had to face the tsunami of Narendra Modi.
In the review meeting on Sunday, BSP chief Mayawati said that the party is trying to connect all the misguided people even in the face of adversity. Mayawati said that some changes have been made in the organization but BSP state president Bhim Rajbhar will not be changed. Bhim Rajbhar will remain the state president. Rajbhar was BSP’s candidate from Mau assembly constituency in the assembly elections but Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party candidate and Bahubali Mukhtar Ansari’s son Abbas Ansari defeated him and made him third. After this, there were indications in the political circles that Bhim Rajbhar could be removed from the post.
