BJP has won 33 seats in the Legislative Council elections. Bahubali candidates have managed to block his path in only three seats. Brijesh Singh’s wife Annapurna Singh has won the seat with a huge margin in Varanasi, where the BJP candidate is third. Annapurna Singh won with 4,234 votes, while Samajwadi Party candidate Umesh Yadav got 345 votes and BJP came third with 170 votes. Apart from this, the independent candidate also won the Azamgarh seat. Raja Bhaiya’s close relative Akshay Pratap has won from Pratapgarh seat.
Elections held on 36 seats- The majority figure in the 100-member UP Legislative Council is 51. 36 seats of the Legislative Council had fallen vacant on March 7 due to the end of the term of the members. The 37th seat fell vacant due to the death of Leader of Opposition Ahmed Hassan. Of these, elections were held on 36. At present, there are 34 MLCs of the Bharatiya Janata Party. SP has 17 seats. There are four members of the BSP, one from the Congress and one from the Apna Dal (Sonelal). Two MLC teachers are from Kota, while two are independent and one is from Nishad Party.
BJP won these seats- According to the election results BJP won Deoria-Kushinagar, Allahabad, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Meerut-Ghaziabad, Lucknow-Unnao, Basti-Siddharthnagar, Barabanki, Ballia, Faizabad-Ambedkar Nagar, Gonda, Bareilly-Rampur and Sitapur, Moradabad-Bijnor, Rampur. Bareilly, Pilibhit-Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Lucknow-Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Bahraich, Gonda, Faizabad, Basti-Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur-Maharajganj, Deoria, Azamgarh-Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Allahabad , Jhansi-Jalaun-Lalitpur, Kanpur-Fatehpur, Etawah-Farukhabad, Agra-Firozabad, Meerut-Ghaziabad and Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur seats. Varanasi and Azamgarh seats are won by independents, while Pratapgarh seats are won by Jansatta Dal-Loktantrak candidates.
