Ten people were burnt alive in West Bengal’s Birbhum district in the early hours of Tuesday. Their houses were set on fire to avenge the murder of a Trinamool Congress leader. According to news agency ANI, around 10-12 houses were set on fire last night. A total of 10 bodies have been recovered so far, out of which 7 bodies have been removed from a single house.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire was started, but by then many people were burnt alive. A fire brigade official said that 10 bodies have been recovered so far. Many big officers of Birbhum district including DM are present on the spot. In the Rampurhat area of Birbhum district, Panchayat leader Bhadu Sheikh of the ruling Trinamool Congress was murdered, this incident of setting fire has been carried out to avenge the murder.
SIT has been formed to investigate the incident of political violence in Birbhum. CID ADG Gyanwant Singh, ADG Western Range Sanjay Singh and DIG CID Operation Meeraj Khalid have been assigned the responsibility of investigation. Responding to the matter, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “There has been information about death due to fire in Rampurhat, but it has nothing to do with politics.” It is a struggle between the local people.
According to local media reports, TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh was on his way to State Highway-50 on Monday night (21 March 2022), during which a bomb was hurled at him, after which he was taken to Rampurhat Medical College, but doctors in the hospital He was declared dead.
