Islamabad, New Delhi. Three Pakistani security personnel were killed and 18 others were injured in an overnight attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) fort in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district. The injured were taken to the district hospital, where a state of emergency was declared. More troops have been sent to the area.
Police said in a statement that three terrorists were killed in the firing that started late on Tuesday and continued till Wednesday morning.
The incident comes days after four soldiers were killed in a gunfight with terrorists in North Waziristan’s Hasan Khel area. The terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between 23 and 24 March.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was thwarted due to the alertness and timely retaliation of the troops.
“The terrorists fled after failing .. and as per intelligence reports, suffered a large number of casualties,” the statement said.
