New Delhi. Eclipse is considered an important period in Hinduism. Doing any auspicious work during this period is considered inauspicious. Sutak period takes place several hours before any eclipse, in which worshiping is also prohibited. In such a situation, the doors of all the temples of the country are also closed. But do you know that there is such a temple in the country which remains open even during the eclipse period. In the Shri Laxminath temple located in Fatehpur, Sikri, Rajasthan, not only do the doors of the temple remain open during the Sutak period, but the worship of God is also done ritually. There is a famous story behind this tradition of the temple, which you will be surprised to know. So let’s know what is that story…
According to the popular legend, once many years ago during the lunar eclipse, the doors of the temple were closed during the Sutak period. In this way God could not be offered. After this, Shri Laxminath Ji Maharaj arrived in the form of a child at the confectionery shop located in front of the temple during the night. The boy told that confectioner that Prasad is being distributed here, I am also very hungry. If you want, keep my pajini and give me prasad in return. After this, the confectioner gave prasad to the child by keeping the pejni. After this, when the doors of the temple were opened in the morning, the priests there saw that one of the gods was missing.
This word spread like fire to the Panchs and markets of the temple. When this matter reached the confectioner, he told the whole incident of the night. From that day onwards Bhog and Aarti started happening in the temple even on the day of Sutak period. It is said that Lord Narayan resides in this temple. Special adornment of God is done in the months of Shravan, Bhadva and Kartik.
