Paid Rs 86,265 several times
Let us tell you that according to Book My Show, the price of tickets for IPL matches starts from Rs 399 to Rs 28,000. He was asked to transfer this money to an account named Abdul Kalam. The woman also deposited this money. After that, the scammer instructed the woman to deposit Rs 14,999 and Rs 21,000. In this way the total transactions became Rs 86,265.
However, before depositing Rs 21,000, the woman became suspicious and asked the scammer to either give her the ticket first or refund the money. On this, the clever scammer made the excuse of a technical glitch in the system and said that if she (the woman) transfers Rs 21,000, she will get her entire money back in refund. Relying on this, the woman deposited that money also.
No ticket, no money
Despite paying more than Rs 86,000, the woman did not get the tickets nor was the money refunded. When the woman contacted her again, a further demand of Rs 16,000 was made. The woman refused to pay this money and demanded a ticket or a refund. When the scammer refused to return the money, the woman’s suspicion turned into belief. He was just a scammer. The woman told him that she would complain to the police. On this the scammer disconnected the call. Before hanging up the phone he told her to go and complain to the police. On this the woman reached the local police station the next day and lodged a complaint. The police have registered a case of fraud.
