Hackers are defrauding people every day in some way or the other. In the last few years, there has been a tremendous increase in the cases of cyber fraud. However, many times users fall into the trap of cyber criminals due to their small mistakes and may have to suffer huge losses. Smartphone users are the most targeted by cyber criminals, because nowadays the number of users taking UPI payment and banking services through smartphones has increased. Recently HDFC Bank has given cyber security advice to its customers, in which users have been asked to give up 3 habits.
Same password for login
Most users keep the same password for every account due to the fear of forgetting the password. Be it the banking app on the phone or the social media platform, many users use the same password for all. If hackers succeed in cracking the password of even one account, they can drain the user’s bank account as well as steal personal information. Due to this, users may have to suffer huge losses.
Bank app not logging out
Many smartphone users conduct transactions through banking apps. After using the app, they close the app without logging out of the app, which can cause huge losses in the future. Not logging out of the app causes the app to run in the background for some time. Hackers can take advantage of this to access your account and defraud you.
Always keep Bluetooth on
Most users knowingly or unknowingly leave their smartphone’s Bluetooth on. Be it a smartwatch or TWS earbuds, to connect them you have to turn on the Bluetooth of the smartphone. However, users forget to turn off the Bluetooth of their phone even after using TWS, due to which Bluetooth hackers can get access to their device. Hackers start spoofing attacks to access users’ smartphones. In such a situation, users will have to keep in mind that they should keep the Bluetooth of their phone off when not needed.
