New Delhi/Varanasi. Today is an important day on the issue of Gyanvapi Masjid of Varanasi. On the one hand, the application of the Masajid Committee against its survey is to be heard in the Supreme Court. At the same time, the survey commission has to submit the report in the court of Senior Division Judge Ravi Diwakar of Varanasi. According to sources, the commission may ask for a day or two more to file its report. After the survey, the court had asked to submit the report today i.e. on May 17 itself. Now let’s talk about the Supreme Court. A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the application filed in the Supreme Court by the Masajid Intrageniya Committee of Varanasi to stop the survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid.
In the application, the Masajid Committee had appealed to stop the survey. He said this was against the provisions of the Places of Worship Act. As soon as the survey began, the committee’s counsel had taken up the matter with Chief Justice NV Ramana, but the Chief Justice refused to hear immediately. Today this matter will be heard at number 40 in the court of Justice Chandrachud. In this B, an organization named Hindu Sena has also filed a caveat i.e. intervention application in the Supreme Court against the application of the Masajid Committee. The organization has said that the court should not issue any order without listening to its lawyer.
In its application, Hindu Sena has also given many documentary evidences including Skanda Purana in the court. According to the organization, the ancient Vishweshwar temple of Varanasi was demolished several times. According to him, in the year 1194, Qutubuddin Aibak, the general of Muhammad Ghori, had demolished the temple. Then in the year 1230, the ruler of the Slave dynasty, Iltutmish broke it. Then in 1452 the ruler of Jaunpur Hussain Shah Sharqi and then in 1595 Sikandar Lodhi destroyed the Vishweshwar temple. According to the Hindu army, the temple was built there even after this and in the year 1669, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb demolished the temple and built a mosque.
