Pilibhit. Two farmers were killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit when they were allegedly using an iron road to open a canal gate. Both were hit by a high voltage power line. The police gave this information on Monday. Police said both died on the spot in Lalore Gujranpur village.
According to police station in-charge Naresh Tyagi, the incident took place when 55-year-old Rajendra Prasad and 50-year-old Rameshwar Dayal were opening the canal’s inlet channel along a 20-feet long iron road to bring canal water to their fields for irrigation.
The SHO said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Bisalpur circle sub-divisional magistrate Rishikant Rajvanshi said that the matter has been sent to the state electricity department to pay compensation to the family members.
Meanwhile, the concerned Lekhpal has been directed to initiate the process of getting compensation under the Chief Minister Kisan Accident Welfare Scheme.
