Varanasi. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) plans to run around 300 workshops known as ‘sanskar sala’ in three districts of Kashi province- Prayagraj, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra. Its objective is to prevent conversion and make the underprivileged children aware of the rich cultural heritage, life, tradition and values of great men and martyrs, yoga and morality.
In the first phase, VHP has started Sanskar Shalas at 24 places in Prayagraj district, under which ‘Durga Vahini’ volunteers or women teachers are taking special classes of two hours to educate the slum children.
These Sanskar Shalas are mostly named after great personalities like Swami Vivekananda, Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Ravidas, Bhimrao Ambedkar, Swami Daya Shankar Saraswati, Savitribai Phule besides Gauri Shankar, Shri Krishna, Maa Saraswati, Maa Ganga, Triveni and Gyan Jyoti. has gone.
VHP’s Kashi Prant Prachar Pramukh, Ashwini Mishra told reporters, “The idea of starting the Sanskar Shala first came after witnessing religious conversions in several ‘tribal’ areas of Rajasthan’s Banswara district.”
Right-wing organizations managed to effectively prevent religious conversion through more than 5,000 such workshops in tribal-populated areas, following which the concept was adopted in select districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Prayagraj, to investigate religious conversions.
Mishra revealed that during the recently concluded ‘Magh Mela’ in Prayagraj, women volunteers of Durga Vahini and other frontal organizations were trained to set up Sanskar Shalas. They were asked to encourage them to connect with the children living in the slums, attend Sanskar Shalas and learn about the rich heritage, festivals, yoga etc.
“The main objective behind starting the Sanskar Shalas is to spread the Sanatan culture,” he said.
In each Sanskar Shala, Durga Vahini volunteers have to teach 20 to 25 children in the age group of four to 14 years for two hours.
In addition, VHP in association with Ashok Singhal Memorial Trust, Mumbai is soon going to start specialized clinics in slums where allopathic, ayurvedic and homeopathic doctors will examine and treat patients.
Apart from this, there are also plans to introduce free computer education to the youth and to train women in tailoring to generate self-employment in the slums.
