New Delhi. Asia has got its new king in terms of cricket. Sri Lanka registered a one-sided victory over Pakistan in the final played on Sunday. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the title match. Before the match, there were slogans all over Pakistan that this time the Asia Cup will be of Pakistan. But the Sri Lankan young players performed brilliantly and turned away these plans of Pakistan. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored the highest 71 runs for Sri Lanka and Pramod Madushan and Vanindu Hasaranga did the work of sending the Pakistani batsmen to the pavilion in the bowling. At one point of time, it seemed that Pakistan would easily win the final match of the Asia Cup, but the Sri Lankan bowlers made a spectacular comeback to win the trophy. It is noteworthy that the winner team of Asia Cup will have to play qualifiers for T20 World Cup. Which means that Sri Lanka will not get entry in the main event directly. On this, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag said something that could also make Pakistan feel chilly.
Sehwag rejoices over Pakistan’s defeat
Virender Sehwag had fun with the big teams on this point and said – it will be interesting that if the team loses against the team that does not qualify, then it too will lose its qualification for the World Cup. Sri Lanka played well, they have the potential to be champions. Imagine they haven’t qualified for next month’s T20 World Cup. Wouldn’t it be interesting that if you lost to such a team, you would have lost the qualification yourself. Next to this he said in a funny way that if this was the case then the parrots would have flown to all the teams….
Well played Sri Lanka, deserving champions of #AsiaCup,
Imagine, they haven’t qualified for the T20 World Cup which is to be held next month. Wouldn’t it be interesting if you lose to a team that hasn’t qualified you too lose qualification. Tote ud jaate sab teams ke. #SLvsPAK— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) September 11, 2022
