Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is in New Delhi. While praising India’s stand on the Ukraine issue, he said that Russia appreciates that India is fully understanding the situation and not unilaterally.

Sergei Lavrov has said that India and Russia have been developing strategic partnership and this has been our priority. We are certainly interested in balancing the world order. We have further strengthened our bilateral context. Our President has sent best wishes to PM Modi.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the relations between the two countries have remained everlasting, even in many difficult times in the past. He has said that the strategic partnership of India and Russia has been Moscow’s priority. Russia is certainly interested in keeping the world order in balance.
India refrains from condemning Russian aggression
The meeting between Jaishankar and Lavrov came a day after the US warned that countries creating a deadlock in US sanctions against Russia would face consequences. India has called for an immediate ceasefire on the Ukraine issue but refrained from taking part in voting at UN forums on resolutions condemning the Russian aggression.
The high-level meeting between India and Russia took place in the backdrop of indications that India’s prospects for buying large quantities of oil from Russia at wide discounts and a rupee-ruble exchange arrangement for bilateral trade emerged.
