Ernakulam: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is contesting elections from Wayanad, Kerala. But why did he choose Kerala as his electoral arena? The answer to this question has been given by Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. Shivakumar said, ‘One day I asked Rahul Gandhi why he chose Kerala, you could have contested elections in Karnataka, or you could have contested elections from other parts of the country also. On this Rahul said that Kerala is the land of courage, Kerala is the land of harmony, Kerala is the land of peace, Kerala is the land of commitment, the people of Kerala are very loyal, so I thought I should choose Kerala.
The path will not be easy for Rahul in Wayanad
This time in Wayanad, strong candidates have been fielded to contest against Rahul. On one hand, CPI general secretary D Raja’s wife Annie Raja is contesting from Wayanad, while on the other hand BJP has also fielded state president K Surendran. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether Rahul Gandhi can win this seat or not.
How are the voters in Wayanad?
Talking about vote percentage in Wayanad, both Hindus and Muslims are around 40 to 45 percent. According to India State Election data, Wayanad has 40 percent Muslims and 40 percent Hindus. And 20 percent people are Christians. In such a situation, the path to victory will not be easy for Rahul because Annie Raja is a Christian. Even if Hindu-Muslim votes are divided, Rahul may have to struggle hard to win.
