Buoyed by its resounding victory in the Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now planning to rule Rajasthan. For this Arvind Kejriwal and team have already gathered. Ahead of next year’s elections, AAP has started the work of strengthening the organization in the state and is now going to organize a two-day convention in Jaipur.
According to AAP leaders, the party will hold a two-day state-level ‘Vijay Utsav’ conference on March 26-27 in Jaipur to strengthen the organization in Rajasthan. In this, the party’s state in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh will discuss with the office bearers and workers.
AAP’s state co-in-charge Khemchand Jagirdar told that the party has also started preparations for the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. Rajasthan is the neighboring state of Punjab and is also close to Delhi, so the party is going to organize a two-day state convention on March 26 and 27 to strengthen the organization in the state.
He said that the party’s state in-charge Sanjay Singh would also participate in the conference to discuss the strategy to take the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party forward at the grassroots level and prepare for the next assembly elections. Assembly elections are to be held in Rajasthan at the end of 2023. The Jagirdar said that the name of the state president of the party in Rajasthan would be announced soon.
Party leaders said that during the two-day conference, Vinay Mishra, the AAP MLA from Dwarka (Delhi) and son of former MP Mahabal Mishra, may be given the responsibility of Rajasthan. MP Sanjay Singh can also introduce a new face. He said the party is going to start the survey next month and is running a membership drive to give alternatives to the major political parties in the state.
It is noteworthy that AAP had fielded candidates on 142 of the state’s 200 seats in the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections. However, none of its candidates got success and got 0.4 percent of the votes overall.
