Union Minister Smriti Irani said that there can be cooperation in many areas between the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. He said BPR&D and NIMHANS, one of the country’s top centers for mental health and neuroscience education, can collaborate to provide counseling for stressed women police personnel.
Union Minister Smriti Irani said that the One Stop Center is planning to organize self-defense training camps for women and girls in every district in collaboration with the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D). Addressing the National Conference on Safety of Women in Public and Workplaces organized by BPR&D, she also said that the Government is working towards connecting Women Helpdesk with One-stop Center in every Police Station.
On this occasion, the Union Minister said that there can be cooperation in many areas between BPR&D and Ministry of Women and Child Development. He said BPR&D and NIMHANS, one of the country’s top centers for mental health and neuroscience education, can collaborate to provide counseling for stressed women police personnel.
Crche for the children of women policemen
Irani also proposed that the BPR&D and the Ministry of Women and Child Development may have a special creche facility for the children of women police personnel in every district. Irani said that the government wants to empower women under the Nirbhaya Fund. “Rs 4,000 crore has been given to various states and I request BPR&D that if they want to propose any new project under the fund, we welcome it,” she said.
One Stop Center (Sakhi) : The One Stop Center Scheme (Sakhi) implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development is very helpful for women. In case of assault, domestic violence, dowry harassment, sexual harassment or any other incident with a woman, special help is provided to her through the One Stop Center.
