The Indian team will play its first match on Sunday (March 6) in the Women’s World Cup. He will face arch-rivals Pakistan at Mount Maunganui. Before the match, India team captain Mithali Raj met Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof. A long conversation ensued between the two. Mithali said before the match that Team India is ready for every challenge that comes in the World Cup.
Mithali said, “We are excited to play in the World Cup as a team. This will be our first match. We are not thinking that we have to play against Pakistan. Our focus is that the front team is ready. We have come through and we have to start the tournament well by defeating them. Whenever we play in the World Cup, the competition is tough.”
Mithali further said, “All matches in the World Cup are different, at different places, the opposition is also different and the conditions are also not the same. We had decided that in the warm-up match, everyone should get a chance. It helped all the players find their momentum. Everyone is ready for the match against Pakistan. The first match is always there for everyone.”
Teams of India and Pakistan will face each other for the first time since the 2017 World Cup. Team India has played 10 matches against Pakistan so far and has won every time. Before the match, Pakistani captain Bismah said that the team is ready for this match. “We have prepared well. We had a great warm-up match as well. Apart from this, we have played consistently since last year. We have talked about the areas where we have not done well. We have better ways,” he said. Ready to take the pressure off.”
