The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday gave a jolt to Imran Khan during the hearing on the case of dismissal of the no-confidence motion and dissolution of Parliament. During this, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandyal said that the decision given by the Deputy Speaker during the voting on the no-confidence motion against the Imran government was wrong. He said that Article 95 was violated.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice questioned President Arif Alvi’s lawyer that if everything happens according to the Constitution, then where is the crisis? According to the report of Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the petition has been asked whether the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his associates have the legal right to dissolve Parliament?
According to the report, a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandiyal is doing the matter. The bench asked Senator Ali Zafar, who represented the President in the court, whether the Prime Minister was the representative of the people and whether “Parliament was not the custodian of the Constitution”. The CJP also asked whether the formation of the federal government was an “internal matter” of Parliament.
