The changing times and fast developing technology has brought a deep change in the lifestyle of the youth. This change is clearly visible when compared to Jane-G (generations born between 1996 and 2010) to Jane-X (generation between 1965 and 1980).
Actually, Jane-G spends less time out of Jane-X. According to a recent survey, on an average of only 49 minutes on the average of Zen-Zee weeks, spends the rest of the time at home (Jane-Zen Habits). Jane-X spends about 65 minutes out daily. This means that Gen-G spends about 25% less time in external activities.
What is the reason for this?
67% of Gen-G in the survey said that they can spend several days without going out. However, technology is not only the only reason behind going out, but there are some other reasons, such as 25% Gen-G do not like to go out in bad weather, 16% lack time, while some percent of Gane-G does not want to go out alone. They like to go out with a friend or partner because they get bored alone.
In addition, screen time has also become a major obstacle. The growing grip of the digital world has made the youth so busy with mobile, laptop and online content that their trend towards nature and outside world has reduced.
A new form of social life at home
However, despite spending less time outside, Jane-G is not allowing her social life to affect. She is living relationships in a new way through digital platforms. A dating app reports that Jane-G in India now consider long distance relations not to obstructs, but part of adventures and new experiences. Relationships that started during the holidays are now lasting long and Jane-G is playing them in unique ways.
Couples are now spending time together through video calls, watching online movies, participating in virtual gaming sessions and even organizing online dates by ordering food at home. With these small efforts, Jane-G is no longer hesitant to have a long distance relationship.
