If you brush daily and still get cavity in your teeth, then you have to understand the reason. This does not mean that regular teeth brushing does not cause cavities. There are many other reasons for this which should be taken into consideration. We spoke to Dr. Pravesh Mehra, Head of the Department of Oral and Dental Surgery at Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospitals, about the causes, symptoms and prevention of cavities.Dr. Mehra explains that, first of all, we have to understand what a cavity is. Cavity means deterioration of tooth enamel. This happens when harmful bacteria start growing on the teeth. Due to this the enamel starts getting damaged, which starts wearing off. If left untreated, it can lead to pain, infection, and even tooth decay. Some people say that they brush their teeth daily but still their teeth get cavities. There are many reasons for this.
brushing incorrectly
Brushing your teeth daily is not enough; It is also important to do it correctly. Brush all your teeth for two minutes at least once a day. Always brush from top to bottom, not right to left or left to right. Brushing at this angle helps remove dirt from between your teeth.
eating too much sugar
If you eat too much sugar and don’t rinse or brush afterward, the sugar sticks to your teeth. This causes bacteria to grow on your teeth, producing acids that wear down them and cause cavities.
