The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given an important advice to all its members: all digital services of EPFO - filing claims, money withdrawn, updating KYC or filing complaints – free, safe and available at home. For this, you do not need to seek the help of a cyber café, fintech agent or third party broker.
Why be careful with brokers?
Some private agents and brokers charge big fees from people in the name of these free services. These people file claims using your information through the official website of EPFO or UMANG app, and collects up to thousands of rupees in return. Not only this, they also threatens your privacy by taking information about your Aadhaar number, bank details and EPFO account.
EPFO’s digital features: simple and effective
EPFO has made its services technically more user-friendly and transparent in recent years. Now you do not need the approval of the employer for KYC update. You can update your documents yourself through Aadhaar Authentication. Advance claims up to Rs 1 lakh like disease, marriage, education or house needs – now automatic settlement facility is available for all of them.
Auto settlement changed picture
In FY 2024-25, EPFO automatically dealt with more than 2.34 crore claims, so that people did not have to visit the office repeatedly. Now apply online and within a few days, money comes to your bank account. This entire process is free and does not include any middleman.
Complaint is also easy to file
If there is any problem related to EPFO, you can file complaints for free through EPFIGMS (EPF Integrated Grievance Management System) or CPGRAMS (Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System). According to the data of the Ministry of Labor, in 2024-25, more than 1.7 lakh complaints were filed on EPFIGMS and more than 1.7 lakh on CPGRAMS, out of which 98% were resolved on time.
