The festival of Diwali is approaching and the five-day festival of lights starts with Dhanteras and ends with Bhai Dooj. Diwali has great importance in Hindu religion and it is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country. Kuber, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari are worshiped on Dhanteras. Most people buy gold and silver on Dhanteras to please Goddess Lakshmi. It is said that by performing these rituals on Dhanteras one gets the blessings of Lakshmi. There are many other beliefs associated with Dhanteras. However, to please Goddess Lakshmi on this day, you can buy other items instead of gold and silver.

There is also a tradition of buying brass utensils on Dhanteras. It is believed that buying brass utensils on Dhanteras brings happiness and prosperity to the house. According to mythology, when Lord Dhanvantari appeared during the churning of the ocean, he had an Amrit Kalash made of brass in his hand. Therefore, buying brass on this day is considered auspicious.
Gomati Chakra:
Gomati Chakra is very dear to Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, if you bring Gomti Chakra home and worship it on the day of Dhanteras, it pleases Goddess Lakshmi. After worshiping Gomti Chakra, keep it in your wealth store. It is believed that by doing this you will never face shortage of money.
Whole Coriander:
It is believed that buying whole coriander on Dhanteras is very auspicious. Therefore, on Dhanteras, bring whole coriander and offer it to Goddess Lakshmi. After this, plant them in your garden, field or pot. With this there will be no shortage of money in your house.
Broom:
In Hindu religion, the broom is considered a form of Goddess Lakshmi. In such a situation, you can buy a new broom and bring it home on Dhanteras. According to astrology, buying a broom on Dhanteras is considered auspicious. If you are not able to buy gold or silver on this day, consider buying a broom.
