Karva Chauth is celebrated on the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month and in Hindu religion it is considered to be the most sacred and favorite fast of married women. Karva Chauth is celebrated to wish the long life, good health and eternal happiness of one’s husband. On this day, women do Solah Shringar and observe Nirjala fast, that is, they do not consume water or food throughout the day until the moon is sighted. Along with Shiva family, Karva Mata and Chandra Dev are also worshiped in Karva Chauth Puja. This year, an auspicious combination of Siddha Yoga and Krittika Nakshatra is also taking place on Karva Chauth. Let us know the complete puja method of Karva Chauth step by step…
Complete worship method of Karva Chauth fast
Beginning of the fast (with Sargi in the morning)
Karva Chauth starts with the Sargi given by the mother-in-law. Sargi is celebrated before sunrise. Sargi consists of fruits, sweets, dry fruits, vermicelli, puri, vegetables, coconut and other things. Married women receive it with reverence and seek blessings of elders through Sargi. After this, they do not consume water or food for the whole day.
Preparation for Karva Chauth
Married women observe Nirjala Karva Chauth fast and perform sadhana. Shringar is a symbol of good luck for women and increases the energy of the fast. Therefore, after performing Solah Shringar, women should spread a red cloth on a platform facing east or north. Install idols or pictures of Goddess Gauri (Parvati), Lord Shiva, Ganesha and Kartikeya on it. Also, keep a calendar or picture of Karva Mata and keep it in an earthen or metal kalash filled with water and some wheat or rice. Make a Swastika symbol with vermillion on both sides of Karva Chauth and tie a sacred thread on its face. Also fill water for Arghya during Karva Chauth.
After listening to the story, the women should worship among themselves as follows:
In the evening, all the women gather to listen to the story of Karva Chauth fast. This story tells the story of Veeravati and her husband. Whenever you listen to the story, keep at least some rice in your hand. At the end of the Katha, all perform Aarti by chanting “Jai Mata Karwa”. After listening to the story, the women change the karwa seven or eleven times and return it. After this, prayers are offered to Goddesses Gauri and Karva for the longevity of the husband and prosperity of the family.
Moon darshan and Arghya method
When the moon rises in the evening, first look at the moon with a lamp and a sieve. Then, look at your husband’s face through the sieve. Offer water to your husband (slowly pour water from the pot). Then, seek their blessings or break the fast by drinking water from their hands. In some families, blessings are first sought by touching the in-laws. After this food is consumed. Offering Arghya to the moon on Karva Chauth establishes harmony in both the mind and marital life.
