The Reserve Bank of India has given the freedom to banks to set floating interest rates on loans. Floating rate means the interest rate that changes with the market or index. Banks will now be able to give their customers the option to switch to floating interest rate at their own will from October 1 at their will. There has been a major change in UPI payment rules from 1 October. NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India) Peer-to-Pier ‘Collect request’ or ‘Bridge Transaction’ will discontinue. This means that now users will not be able to use the facility of asking for money on apps like phone, Google Pay or Paytm.
Only direct push transfer facility will be available. The move aims to increase user security and prevent online fraud. Government employees had the option to choose one of the Integrated Pension Scheme (UPS) and National Pension System (NPS) by Tuesday, 30 September 2025. After this deadline, switching between the two schemes will not be allowed.
Now non-government shareholders will be able to invest 100 percent of their entire pension amount in equity-linked schemes under Multiple Scheme Framework (MSF) under NPS ie NPS. Earlier its limit was 75 percent. Also, the fee for opening and maintenance of PRAN i.e. Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) has also been changed. For government employees (e-PRAN) kit fee will be Rs 18 and the fee of physical Pran card will be Rs 40. The fee will vary for private sector and government sector shareholders.
These rules applicable in train ticket booking
From 1 October, Indian Railways will give priority to base-attested users to book reserved general tickets within the first 15 minutes of opening reservation. This rule has been implemented to prevent the misuse of ticket booking and to streamline the process. The circular issued by the Ministry of Railways states, “The general tickets reserved in the first 15 minutes can only be booked on the IRCTC website or app only after Aadhaar authentication.”
Changes in the price of gas cylinder
The prices of LPG cylinders are amended every month. Domestic gas cylinders are currently stable, but the prices of commercial cylinders have been amended. Professional cylinders have become expensive since October 1, 2025. Oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19 kg cylinder by Rs 15.
User Safety Rules in Online Gaming
New rules are being implemented in online gaming to ensure players’ transparency, security and privacy. These include the age limit (more than 18 years for real money gaming) and licensing requirements. Electronic and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently said, “We talked to the industry, there were many rounds of discussion. We have been talking to him continuously for almost three years. If they want more time, we will definitely adopt more consulted approaches.”
