Mumbai : Vat Savitri Vrat Women observe a fast for the long life of their husbands, unbroken good fortune, happy married life and good health. On this day, women worship Savitri, Satyavan and Vat Vriksha i.e. Banyan tree by law and also tell the story near the Vat tree. But this time there is confusion among them regarding the fast, as to when is the fast to be observed. 29th May or 30th May?
This is why there is a dilemma among women regarding fasting. Because this year Amavasya Tithi for Vat Savitri Vrat is starting on 29th May, and ending on 30th May. In such a situation, the easiest way to know the correct date is Udayatithi. According to the Hindu calendar, this fast is observed on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month.

It is worth noting that this time according to the Panchang, the new moon of Jyeshtha month is starting from 2:54 pm on 29th May i.e. (Sunday), and it is ending at 04:59 pm on 30th May (Monday). In such a situation, according to Udayatithi, Jyeshtha Amavasya will be on 30th May i.e. Monday. Therefore, the fast of Vat Savitri will be kept on Jyeshtha Amavasya i.e. on 30th May.
