Cyber criminals are constantly adopting new methods to defraud people. Now a new scam has come to light, in which fraudsters first record a person’s face and voice and then commit fraud on the basis of that. This new method has been named ‘Face-Voice Cloning Scam’.
Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police has advised people to be cautious about this scam. According to the police, thugs ask people for small help related to mobile phones in crowded places. He portrays himself as a person with no knowledge of technology, so that the person in front starts helping him without any doubt.
Actually, the thug’s mobile is already on video and audio recording mode. As soon as a person picks up the phone for help and talks to it, his face and voice are recorded within a few seconds. Later, cyber criminals can use this recording with the help of AI technology to create fake identities, do voice cloning and commit online fraud.
In view of this increasing threat, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) has also issued an alert for the people. The agency has advised to avoid using the mobile phones of unknown people or appearing in front of the camera at their request.
