New Delhi. The government on Monday said that LPG supply is being affected due to the current geopolitical circumstances, but priority is being given to domestic consumers. At the industry level, online LPG cylinder booking has increased to 99 percent. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) said in a statement that deliveries through Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) have reached about 92 per cent, which is helping in preventing diversion of gas. This code is sent to the registered mobile number of the consumers. The ministry said that many LPG distributors also worked on Sunday, so that domestic consumers could get gas cylinders on time.
Total commercial LPG supply has been increased to approximately 70 percent of pre-crisis levels, including additional supply related to 10 percent recovery.
Since March 23, 2026, the sale of 5 kg free trade LPG cylinders has exceeded 18.45 lakh, which shows the increasing demand.
The government said that a three-member committee of executive directors of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited is planning LPG supply in collaboration with states and industry organizations. An average of 7,000 metric tonnes of commercial LPG has been sold per day in the last 5 days.
The sale of auto LPG has moved from private companies to public sector companies. In view of the increasing demand, PSU companies have increased their supply. States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rajasthan and West Bengal have seen higher growth in demand.
More than 4.93 lakh PNG connections have been activated since March 2026, while more than 5.51 lakh people have registered for new connections. Till April 19, about 39,200 consumers have switched from LPG to PNG through MyPNGD.in.
According to the government, all refineries are working at full capacity and there is adequate stock of crude oil. Adequate availability of petrol and diesel has also been maintained, while demand is being met by increasing domestic LPG production.
