Hyderabad, 15 September (). The heavy rains in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas on Sunday completely disturbed life.
One person died in three separate incidents, while three people are feared to be swept away in drains.
Two people were swept away in Afzal Sagar Nalla in Mallepalli area in the middle of the city. According to eyewitnesses, a person slipped and fell into the drain. His son -in -law came forward to save him, but both of them got swept away. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and police teams are looking for both.
In another incident, a 24 -year -old youth was swept away in Sunny Nalla in Mushirabad area of Secunderabad. He was sitting on a retaining wall (the drain wall), which suddenly collapsed, causing him to fall directly into the drain and swept away.
Shekhar Mandal, a 24 -year -old laborer, was killed and four other laborers were injured when a wall of an under -construction convention hall collapsed in Wattinagulpalli. The injured have been admitted to the hospital, the condition of one of whom is said to be critical. The incident took place in Gachibouli police station area.
Along with the major parts of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Rangaradi and Medchal-Malakajgiri districts also received heavy rains. On an average, 12 cm of rain was recorded in the city, which drowned the roads in water and traffic came to a complete standstill.
Traffic was completely stopped due to water filling near the Integrated Police Command and Control Center located on Road No. 12 of Banjarahils. GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi Gadwal himself reached the spot and monitored the drainage works.
The rains were severely affected by the major areas like Sheikhapet, Manikonda, Golconda, Readergam, Mehdipatnam, Toli Chowki, Masab Tank, Wooden Bridge, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, Somajiguda, Panjagutta and Amirpet.
Abdullapurmate (outer area of the city) recorded 13 cm, 12.1 cm in Mushirabad, 11 cm in Jawaharnagar, 10.1 cm in Osmania University and 9.5 cm in Maradalli.
