New Delhi . A mistake by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who was trying to garner applause over the ceasefire agreement between Iran and America, sparked a debate on social media. Many users claimed that many posts on behalf of Shehbaz Sharif were written by some outsider. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had made a post on the social media platform ‘X’, in which he appealed to US President Donald Trump to extend the deadline given to Iran. However, social media users caught a typo in it, which made it appear that this post was written by an outsider. Shortly after the post from Shehbaz Sharif’s ‘X’ account, users started sharing screenshots of the ‘Edit History’. These screenshots showed that initially a line was written in the post, “Message from the PM of Pakistan on Draft-X.”
According to a report by ‘The Daily Beast’, it appears that the ‘draft’ label was accidentally included in the original post, which was removed in a later update. The media outlet reported that the incident ‘exposes’ that the Pakistani Prime Minister may have ‘cut and pasted’ the message, leading to speculation as to who actually wrote the message.
Social media users also pointed out that several senior US officials were tagged in the post, including Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This further intensified the speculation that all this was done under some mutual coordination. The question was also raised as to why the team of the Prime Minister of any country would write the name of its own country in the draft message. Some users claimed that these words might have been given by American officials.
A report in ‘Forbes’ said that this message was closely scrutinized because looking at the initial draft of his appeal, it seemed that it was written by an organization outside Pakistan.
The Daily Beast also reported that Shehbaz Sharif later issued a revised statement in which the ‘draft’ reference was removed and his office did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter.
